Role Purpose
To support the Senior Commercial Manager and wider Commercial and Contract Management teams in delivering robust commercial stewardship across the DWP Manned Guarding and Security Control Centre contract. The role ensures commercial controls, financial performance, compliance with contract obligations, and accurate reporting relating to security guarding, patrol services, and 24/7 security control centre operations.
The post holder will assist with maintaining commercial processes and governance aligned with corporate requirements and security‑sector best practice. This includes supporting operational teams to manage contractual risks, maximise revenue recovery, ensure accurate financial forecasting, and maintain full compliance with client‑specific reporting and performance frameworks.
Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Management
- Assist with monitoring and controlling expenditure, ensuring income is maximised to achieve or exceed budgeted financial performance.
- Work closely with operational managers, Security Leads and Control Centre teams to provide commercial guidance on guarding deployment, shift patterns, overtime, incident response and client‑requested service adjustments.
- Support the identification, pricing, and submission of Compensation Events or contract variations (including additional guarding hours, mobilisations, de‑mobilisations, and control centre operational changes).
- Ensure all commercial processes for variation control, quotations, and approvals are followed accurately and in line with contractual requirements.
- Regularly review revenue, WIP, aged debt and ensure prompt and accurate invoicing.
- Prepare monthly CVRs, forecasts, risk and opportunity registers, and support annual budget preparation.
Contractual Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the contract terms, KPIs, SLAs and DWP security operational requirements.
- Collate performance data and produce monthly KPI analysis for manned guarding performance, incident response times, alarm-handling metrics, and control centre compliance.
- Support mitigation of failed KPIs and negotiate outcomes where appropriate.
- Provide trend analysis and monthly performance summaries to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual reporting obligations and DWP audit requirements.
Subcontractor & Supply Chain Management
- Support commercial administration and performance oversight of subcontracted guarding providers and technology suppliers.
- Manage applications for payment and ensure supply chain adherence to standards.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong communication with DWP contract representatives and auditors.
- Support the Commercial Manager in commercial elements of client meetings and reviews.
Team Support & People Management
- Assist with managing the commercial support team, including training and PDRs.
General Duties
- Provide ad‑hoc commercial analysis at the direction of senior leadership.
- Ensure adherence to security‑sensitive information protocols.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting commercial management on contracts of £10m+.
- Knowledge of security environments desirable.
- Strong understanding of contract law and variation processes.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with CAFM or security deployment systems.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND desirable.
- Professional membership preferred but not essential.
