Job description
This significant construction project involves building a large-scale reservoir and offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with project management staff, design teams, and clients to ensure high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinating and overseeing laboratory and field-testing activities to ensure full compliance with project and industry standards
2. Producing, reviewing, and issuing Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)
3. Managing the approval process of all materials for the project
4. Reviewing the classification of excavated material on-site to ensure compliance with project specifications
5. Managing the materials testing subcontractors
6. Proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving non-conformance issues
7. Managing test results and issuing them to relevant parties
8. Producing quality documentation, including forms, checklists, and client reports to facilitate and demonstrate earthworks and materials testing compliance
9. Liaising with designers, clients, and their representatives regarding all aspects of quality of works
10. Material testing of excavated material, re-using suitable material where possible
11. Collaborating with project management and engineering staff to improve work quality on-site and suggesting improvements to daily activities
12. Promoting health and safety on site
13. Ensuring works are completed according to the programme
Job Requirements:
14. Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Civil, Structural, or Materials Engineering
15. Experience with earthworks testing procedures
16. UKAS Soils Laboratory testing experience is beneficial
17. Excellent record-keeping and data management skills
18. Strong communication skills
19. Good understanding of Specification for Highway Works and general material classifications
20. Relevant qualifications, including CSCS Card
21. Strong knowledge of HSQE regulations
22. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programmes
23. High level of attention to detail
24. Self-motivated and able to work both in a team and independently
25. Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
26. Full UK Driving Licence
