Overview

Who is this great for? Our Senior Consultants are experienced practitioners who have been there and got hard-won experience. They’re able to apply their know-how and experience to provide tailored, pragmatic, high-impact analysis that is inspired by best practice but not constrained by it. You’ll be a people person who is motivated by building long-lasting relationships and wanting to make things better for our clients and their teams and customers.

As a Senior Consultant you’ll be at the center of client work, using your experience to shape practical, value‑driven outcomes.

As a Senior Consultant You’ll Be

* A passionate business analysis practitioner who has significant experience in more than just process modelling and requirements engineering; you can draw upon your know-how to get stuff done for our clients in a pragmatic and impactful way.
* Experienced in business analysis in different contexts from small improvement initiatives, through to user-centred product-led delivery, and ‘big-system’ transformation across an entire organisation.
* A relationship builder who can foster long-term relationships with clients to build Herd’s brand as a trusted partner whilst embracing ‘non-consultancy vibes’.
* A team player who works with colleagues embracing the ‘Power of Herd’ to share knowledge and enhance the client experience.
* Committed to life-long learning; you’ll be self-motivated to seek ways to improve your knowledge, toolkit, and craft.
* A commercially aware individual who understands how to support proposals that are commercially viable for Herd and deliver value for money for our clients, in line with our company values.
* An all‑rounder willing to take on a challenge and able to adapt to any industry, sector, working approach, and consistently drive successful outcomes.
* A people‑focused team member who helps create an inclusive environment for Herd and clients.
* Able to tell a compelling story with your work to influence stakeholders on the best way forward.
* Able to adjust your approach and delivery depending on the customer and the situation.

Key elements of the role

* Accountability for all aspects of business analysis delivery within a specific project, product, or programme; escalate issues outside your remit and propose solutions.
* Largely a billable consulting role, independently supporting blended client teams or as part of a wider Herd team engagement.
* Lead engagements with customers through all stages, and work independently, making decisions and gaining consensus on actions.
* May join engagements early (exploration or discovery) or later in the delivery lifecycle.
* Engage in wider professional communities and share experiences internally and externally (blogs, podcasts, events).
* May write or contribute to case studies, articles, to promote capabilities and services.
* Contribute to sales activities for bids, tenders, pre-sales work, and Statements of Work.
* In the future, may be asked to task or line-manage mid-level and junior BAs, supporting their growth and development and managing performance.
* Support hiring activities, including CV screening, assessment development, and interview panels.
* As a small but growing scale-up, be willing to get involved where needed.

Core Skills And Characteristics

* You’ll enjoy getting things done and driving tangible outcomes.
* You’ll work collaboratively with people at all levels and can influence where needed.
* You’ll synthesize complex messages and communicate clearly and effectively.
* You’re accountable for delivering key deliverables and outcomes.
* You’ll have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail (words and numbers).
* You’re a self-starter who can identify and prioritise opportunities.
* You can be persuasive to encourage the team to complete tasks.
* You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
* You’ll learn new concepts and tools quickly.
* You’ll have a confident character and approach to things.
* You’re comfortable working at pace and can defend your approach under pressure while remaining open to better ideas.
* You’ll assess each piece of work independently and determine the best approach to meet high standards.
* You’ll deliver work in a visually appealing way to attract engagement and stand out.
* You’ll challenge customers and internal colleagues when needed, in a confident and considerate manner to ensure clarity.

Desirable Experience

* Experience working to the GOV.UK Service Standard would be helpful.
* Experience in data analysis using Power BI, SQL, or Python.

If you have any reason to believe that you may not pass such vetting, you must declare this as soon as possible, and this must be before any job offer is accepted.
