About the role
As a Social Worker working in the Birth to Settled Adulthood team, you will benefit from a strong supportive team culture centred around shared learning and reflective practice. You will work in a new service where we aim to improve the way we support children and young people with complex needs or who are disabled as they grow into adults. We work with children and young people from birth to 25 years of age to ensure a smooth transition into adult services by age 25.
What you will be doing
You will work with disabled children with severe and complex needs, including Autism Spectrum conditions. The team undertakes child and family assessments of disabled children and their families. Responsibilities include:
* Work with families to address safeguarding concerns
* Work with children in care
* Provide ongoing support to meet identified needs through planning, short breaks or direct payments
The service includes Direct Payment and Family Help Services, a paediatric occupational therapy service, and coordination with Health, SEN Workers, specialist schools, and other therapeutic practitioners. Collaboration with Adult Services ensures smooth transition into adulthood.
About you
Qualification and experience:
* Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England
* Ability to fulfil travel requirements of the post (significant travel required, vehicle necessary)
* Right to work in the UK
This full‑time (37 hours) role is based in North Dorset, office in Dorchester. Flexible working arrangements may be considered. In person attendance to meetings is expected.
