We are currently recruiting General Porters to work within the team at St Michael's Hospital to provide a comprehensive Portering service of a high standard. This is a great opportunity to work in our patient friendly hospital.

The shifts that we are recruiting to are on a rolling pattern, these will be Monday - Sunday. These shifts will cover 24 hours, and include nights.

Some of these shifts will carry unsocial enhancements.

On a day to day basis, tasks will include:-

1. Providing a Portering and messenger service including the transfer of patients and visitors between wards and departments.
2. Collecting and delivering a range of goods including drugs, bloods, furniture, case notes, specimens, x-rays and medical gas cylinders.
3. Collecting and delivering mail
4. Loading and unloading hospital deliveries
5. Transferring furniture and other portable equipment and machinery
6. Maintaining confidentiality and attend trust training
7. Responding to emergency bleeps including cardiac arrest, fire, and major trauma.
8. Movement of waste (clinical & non-clinical) across the hospital to waste compound
