About the role
WSP is an international leader in Intelligent Infrastructure, applying cutting‑edge lighting, information and communication technologies to optimise efficiency, safety and customer experience. The Lighting and Energy Solutions (L&E S) group delivers comprehensive design and advisory services across lighting, electrical engineering and low‑voltage energy for public and private sector clients worldwide.
The team is located across the UK – Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Hertfordshire, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton – and specialises in six discipline areas.
Discipline Areas
* Architectural Lighting: Integrated design solutions that create beautiful, comfortable and inspiring spaces.
* Electrical & EV: Design and advisory consultancy for lighting, sign installations, electric‑vehicle charge points and market‑trader facilities.
* Environmental Lighting: Advisory to reduce the environmental impact of lighting from concept through maintenance.
* Local Government: Support for daily activities, design, smart space application, technical reports and asset management.
* Strategic Road Network: Knowledge across network appraisal, survey support, optioneering, design, operation and management of the UK’s highways.
* Technical Excellence: Research, policy, Future‑Ready and expert witness services to enable sustainable, resilient change.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking enthusiastic individuals of all levels to support our capabilities. Ideal candidates will have:
* Experience working on high‑quality consultancy‑style lighting projects aligned with the disciplines described above.
* Proven ability to analyse and interpret information from multiple sources and communicate findings effectively.
* Experience as a client, consultant or contractor, ideally in transport, public sector or high‑risk environments.
