Job Purpose

The Events and Housekeeping Assistant plays a vital dual role in supporting both the delivery of events and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the Principal’s Lodging, the Principal’s home on campus. This part time position will be part of a small team and requires flexibility, attention to detail and a strong customer service focus to ensure all guests enjoy a safe, clean and welcoming environment during their event experience or overnight stay.


Main Duties and Responsibilities for Events

* Assist with setting up and breaking down event spaces including setting tables, moving furniture, linens and decorations.
* Ensure event spaces are clean, safe and presentable before guests arrive.
* Provide on-the-day support during events e.g. helping with logistics, guest assistance, serving food and drink, tidying, restocking items etc.
* Work closely with the Lodging Managers to meet guest expectations.
* Report any damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.


Main Duties and Responsibilities for Housekeeping

* Perform routine and deep cleaning of guest-facing and back-of-house areas, including floors, restrooms, reception rooms, bedrooms and kitchens.
* Sort, wash, dry, fold and iron laundry items according to fabric types and care instructions. This relates to event and overnight guest laundry.
* Ensure all areas are tidy, hygienic and in line with Lodging standards.
* Monitor and maintain cleaning supply levels, restocking as needed and informing management of low inventory.
* Identify and report maintenance or repair needs.


Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience


Knowledge/Qualifications


Essential

* A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role OR: Minimum Scottish Credit and qualification Framework level 3 in English and Maths or equivalent.
* A2 Good working knowledge of food and drink handling and service principles.
* A3 Understanding of event layouts and guest service standards.


Desirable

* B1 Elementary Food Hygiene certificate.


Skills


Essential

* C1 Excellent communication and customer care skills.
* C2 Positive, proactive attitude and strong team player.
* C3 Basic food and drink preparation and service skills.
* C4 Good numerical and literacy skills.
* C5 Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
* C5 Reliability and punctuality are key.
* C6 Must be able to safely use any specialist equipment required for the role.


Desirable

* D1 Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
* D2 Manual Handling skills.


Experience


Essential

* E1 Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning and hospitality events.


Desirable

* F1 Health and Safety or manual handling training.


Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 2, £23,350 per annum pro rata.

This post is part time (12 hrs per week) and open ended. The working pattern for this role is Monday to Wednesday, 4 hours per morning.
