Senior/Principal Engineer (Bridges)
WSP invites applications for a Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer based in Cambridge. The role focuses on client relationship management, bid preparation, scheme cost estimation, and the technical delivery of bridge projects from inception to handover.

A Little More About Your Role
* Develop and maintain excellent client relationships to ensure repeat business and client satisfaction.
* Prepare bids and scheme cost estimates.
* Participate in project management and technical delivery of schemes from inception to handover.
* Prepare documents, reports, and health and safety risk assessments.
* Conduct scheme feasibility studies and prepare scheme designs and drawings.
* Prepare outline cost estimates and check drawings.
* Supervise CAD technicians and interface with multidisciplinary project teams.
* Engage in value engineering, value management, and quality procedure implementation.
* Manage project, programme, and financial aspects.
* Maintain client liaison and reporting.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with extensive post‑professional qualification experience.
* Practical knowledge of bridge design, maintenance and assessment from construction sites and design office work.
* Project management experience of bridge projects.
* Knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of structure‑related projects and a track record of innovation.
* Working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW).
* Understanding and experience of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design.
* Experience in design or assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures.
* Experience with grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress and SAM.
* Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills and a willingness to adapt to new challenges.
