The Opportunity
To support our continued ambitious growth in Energy, we have a new opportunity for an Energy Consultant to join our vibrant team in either Sheffield or Manchester on a hybrid basis. You will join a project team in the development of strategies, solutions, and integrated project schemes for both public sector and private sector clients. You will have the opportunity to work for a range of clients including national, regional, and local government, energy developers, education establishments, industry, and healthcare providers. Our recent projects include solar photovoltaics, electricity storage, low temperature heat networks, low carbon heat generation, hydrogen for transport, biomass CHP projects, energy recovery facilities and standby gas generation for data centres, energy market reserves, university/healthcare campuses and data centres.
Responsibilities
* Consult on net zero solutions and decarbonisation developments under various energy vectors and domains, particularly Wind, BESS and Solar, as well as energy distribution, district heating/cooling, renewable electricity generation (solar PV, wind and biomass), and low carbon heat generation in the North geography and wider UKIMEA region.
* Work on sustainability policy development and analysis, carbon management, renewables, and climate services with regional stakeholders.
* Optimise processes for asset management applications and support decarbonisation master planning at estate, city, regional, and national scales.
* Develop integrated projects with wider portfolio teams and prepare bids for client opportunities and funding rounds, specifically in decarbonisation.
* Lead technical consulting projects including energy infrastructure feasibility studies and portfolio or area energy strategies, and advise public and private sector clients on options, risks, and actions in pursuit of net zero carbon.
* Undertake strong project and technical analysis, reporting and presentation; support the business cases for energy investments and infrastructure refurbishments.
Qualifications/Requirements
* MEng or MSc in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Chartered Engineering (or Working towards) with membership of relevant professional institution(s).
* A strong electrical technical background is key.
* Good track record of leading technical consulting projects and advising clients on options, risks and actions in net zero pursuits.
