Bringing it to the role.
The Regional Safety Manager role is to ensure that our restaurant safety and compliance is best-in-class ensuring we always do the right thing when it comes to safety. You will continue to build on the KFC UK&I reputation by developing strategic relationships and influencing key stakeholders at all levels.
Critically, you will oversee and have the responsibility for the management and delivery of safety across the region, ensuring restaurants are compliant with all aspects of safety and keeping our team members and guests safe.
This role is part of the Risk and Compliance Team, reporting into the Risk & Recovery Lead. The team sits within the wider Restaurant Excellence department, where our priority is running great restaurants. The right person will lead and influence across a variety of projects and workstreams aimed at ensuring safety is at the forefront of everyone’s thinking.
This role will be a field-based role working across a range of restaurants within the UK&I.
What you’ll do
* Manage all aspects of Safety (i.e. Food Safety, Health & Safety, Fire Safety) and be the first point of contact for all safety-related matters for your region.
* Work collaboratively with the field operations team to deliver the safety strategy for the region, and drive performance by analysing data across a broad spectrum of measures, including audits and accidents, to determine risk recovery requirements.
* Partner closely with our field operational teams to support and guide them through appropriate and timely communications on all restaurant safety matters.
* Work closely with other functions across the business including food safety, quality assurance, central operations and construction and development, being the “voice of the field” back to RSC teams to influence strategy, policy and ops ease to improve compliance.
* Lead the way in ensuring all our restaurants meet the highest standards set by legislation and statutory guidance and enforced by statutory bodies.
* Take responsibility for supporting the restaurant teams to ensure all consistently achieve 4 or 5 rating in the Food Hygiene Rating System (FHRS) performance programme.
* Investigate any accidents, incidents, complaints or enforcement challenges for your region, including RIDDOR reporting where required.
* Take the lead on any enforcement liaison for restaurants within your region.
* Conduct any risk assessments, training, coaching or upskilling as required to drive high performance and ensure continuous improvement.
* Support in reviewing, updating and creating policies and processes for the system, such as Risk Assessments, H&S policies, FSMS, etc.
* Take the lead on reviewing the operational safety routines in restaurant, to ensure they are fit for purpose and enable field teams to effectively manage compliance and safety in restaurant.
* Support the Food Safety Manager in leading the HACCP team and Risk & Recovery Manager in leading the Safety Forums.
* Support relationships with our Primary Authority Partners for Environmental Health and Fire Safety.
* This role will involve travel to restaurants within the UK&I.

* Outstanding action-driving ability, and attention to detail in managing process.
Experience
* A Related Degree (or equivalent qualifications) in a safety and/or risk-based subject such as Environmental Health or Risk Management is essential.
* Experience in a safety, risk or compliance role in either the private or public sector is essential.
* Experience in the food service or retail sector would be a huge benefit.
* Experience in managing complex investigations into safety-related incidents and accidents.
* Proven track record of managing both internal and external stakeholders, to include enforcement officers.
* Good level of operational and people & culture knowledge.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
