SEND Casework Officer - Liverpool City Council Location: Liverpool (Minimum 2 days on site)Rate: £40 per hour (Umbrella / Ltd status)Role Type: Locum / Immediate Start
Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced SEND Casework Officer to support schools, settings, and families in meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a locum role with immediate start.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support schools and settings in applying the graduated approach to SEND
* Co-ordinate statutory assessment processes for pupils with SEND, including Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans
* Review and monitor pupil progress against outcomes
* Work closely with SENCos, head teachers, and internal colleagues (SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, Social Care, Health) to ensure a multi-agency approach
* Ensure statutory timescales for EHC plans are met
* Attend annual reviews for particularly vulnerable pupils (e.g., Looked After Children, Continuing Care, pupils at risk of exclusion)
* Ensure children attend maintained settings in Liverpool wherever possible
Requirements:
* Recent experience in a SEND / educational / childrens services environment
* Knowledge of Children and Families Act 2014, SENDIST regulations, and associated legislation
* Experience facilitating review meetings and working with parents, carers, and multi-agency teams
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including complex spreadsheets and presentations
