Overview

City of Wolverhampton Council – WV Active. Sports & Events Support Manager is responsible for operational delivery of high-quality services within the centres, including facilities management, health & safety, customer service and brand standards, ensuring KPIs are met. The role supports the Sports & Events Manager and General Manager in service delivery and facilities in the centres.


Responsibilities

* Be responsible for the operation of the centre, accountable for all monies received, and ensure all financial and administrative procedures are carried out correctly.
* Raise orders and sundry debtors using the council’s finance system as requested by the Sports & Events Manager and General Manager.
* Deal courteously, efficiently and effectively with all customer needs, complaints, accidents, incidents and defects as they arise and fully complete relevant report forms.
* Communicate daily with the Facilities teams to pass on and receive information and ensure the centre operates efficiently and effectively.
* Ensure facilities are of an acceptable standard of readiness and cleanliness, fully operational and available for public use at all times to maintain a high standard of service delivery.
* Supervise and, where required, instruct in the safe use of facilities by customers, ensuring compliance with procedures and providing advice and assistance in equipment use.
* Undertake point-of-sales duties as required, including issuing tickets, handling income, issuing equipment and supplying customers with relevant equipment, receipt and correct storage.
* Ensure equipment and plant are fully operational at all times, identifying, repairing or reporting defects as required.
* In the event of an emergency incident, exercise appropriate control and management, working within established emergency procedures.
* Be a key holder and standby on a rota basis for emergency call-outs at WV Active facilities.
* Complete daily Duty Manager shifts, lead by example, supervise operational shifts and carry out other duties as required commensurate with the post’s level of responsibility (including cover at other Centres).
* Produce rotas for centre staff on a shift basis, monitor attendance, obtain cover for staff on leave or unable to work, and ensure safe and effective staffing levels for all activity areas at all times.
* Co-ordinate and plan the schools and learn-to-swim program, ensuring KPIs are met and regularly monitored, meetings held with teachers, and customer enquiries and complaints responded to promptly.
* Provide visible leadership to all Centre staff, ensuring they are highly trained, motivated and operate at high levels of performance and efficiency.
* Assist with the management and growth of the events program and other activities to drive income, increase participation, and help deliver Public Health outcomes by linking with local, regional and national groups/organisations.
* Manage the Bookings and Events Co-ordinator and ensure all booking procedures and events are managed effectively and professionally, including invoicing and debt management.
* Ensure team members are effectively managed and supervised and that all people management procedures are operated within the team (e.g., recruitment, absence reporting, qualification maintenance, appraisals, discipline).
* Maintain security of the premises throughout opening hours and during locking up procedures.
* Regularly patrol inside and outside the facility to monitor and address cleaning and maintenance issues and ensure standards are maintained.


Qualifications And/or Training

* RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
* First Aid at Work Certificate
* Pool Plant Operator Certificate
* Level 2 Health & Fitness Certificate (or ability to achieve within 6 months)
* Mandatory Health and Safety training
* Safeguarding awareness

Notes: The grade for the job includes consideration for the nature of the job, including working at times customers find convenient (weekends, early mornings, evenings and bank holidays). Customer demand/usage will determine working patterns. There will be no additional payments over and above the grade indicated which takes account of the working pattern requirements.
