Overview
Mountjoy Ltd provides Reactive Maintenance and PPM to buildings in the Horsham area. The Contract for Horsham District Council encompasses 156 properties of which 100 are temporary housing. The remaining properties consist of offices, commercial buildings, libraries, museums, parks, car parks etc.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a conscientious, enthusiastic, and experienced Supervisor with a can‑do attitude. Applicants must have a technical knowledge in a Hard FM environment and have a formal qualification in their relevant trade. This role must maintain a professional appearance and attitude and be polite and courteous at all times. It is a further requirement that all contract employees must pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Key Responsibilities
* Keep the Call Centre and the Client up to date with the overall delivery of works and progress
* Build the relationship with the Client liaising with them to keep them up to date with the overall delivery of the works and how these are progressing.
* Liaise with the building users and ensure they are kept within the communication loop, to fully understand the process, schedule of works and what the next enabling steps are.
* Report to the office and resource controller keeping them fully up to speed with the status of the programme of works under your control.
* Manage and support the operatives in their learning and development, ensuring they have the right technical and organisational skills to do their job.
* Support the Contract Manager when needed in the scoping, pricing and delivery of jobs.
* Manage work on site and update regularly to make sure work is completed in a timely, professional and efficient manner.
* Carry out quality checks on completed works when required and document the findings, making sure that any issues are passed on to the Call Centre to allow prompt rectification.
* Support the Resource Controller in delivering the service i.e. with technical support with resourcing etc.
* Understand and enforce health and safety at all times, carrying out toolbox talks, operative assessments and other training with the team, whether on site or in the office.
* Carry out scaffold inspections, where required, ensuring that the scaffold register is kept up to date.
* Carry out normal day‑to‑day work as part of the daily tasks issued, carrying out site inspections, Health & Safety observations, quality checks and guidance for operatives and our sub‑contractor partners.
* Resolve complex issues, whilst seeking guidance, advice from your senior colleagues and delivering these outcomes professionally and with courtesy.
* Be a part of the call‑out rota, out of hours, emergency team in both capacities as operative, covering where needed and to be a point of escalation.
* Carry out induction of new staff members as necessary to ensure that the operative has a detailed understanding of Mountjoy, our client’s requirements and continual monitoring of the new inductee, giving feedback as and when required.
Skills Required
* 3+ years’ experience working in a Property Maintenance environment completing reactive and PPM tasks (Essential)
* Technical background in a Hard FM environment as a Supervisor.
* Able to recruit and induct staff ensuring they have a professional introduction to the company and contract.
* Be the technical expert for associated works, providing efficient and effective solutions where required.
* Able to support and coach a team in the achievement of the standards and quality we are striving for.
* Able to operate in a changing and evolving environment and enjoy the challenge.
* Possess interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in a professional and courteous way, whilst accepting challenges from colleagues, tenants and our client.
* Have an organised approach to work, time management and to organise a diary.
* Able to apply a practical approach and solutions to Health & Safety.
* Proficient in MS Office, particularly excel, to an intermediate level and be able to understand how Mountjoy’s FES system interacts with other systems.
* Able to record information in the field, identify trends and recurrent issues and put a measure in place to understand the extent of the trend or issue.
* Be a team player by understanding what it is to be part of a team, sharing experiences and learning. The responsibilities list above is not exhaustive and is subject to change as directed by the Contract Manager.
Qualifications
* SSSTS Health and Safety (Desirable)
* PASMA & Scaffold Inspectors trained (must be willing to complete the training if not qualified)
* Construction Skills Certificate Scheme accreditation or equivalent (Desirable)
* Hold a full Driving Licence
Experience Required
* Technical knowledge of Hard FM (Essential)
* Experience of completing statutory PPM tasks (Desirable)
* Working knowledge of SFG20 standards (Desirable)
* Technical building knowledge of working methods, practices, procedures, processes, regulations and legislation
* Experience of working in a Property Maintenance environment (Essential)
* IT knowledge and competency with various systems & programmes. Being able to deliver works via a pre‑planned schedule and to update and communicate that schedule on a regular basis
* Being able to communicate at all levels.
