Our client is a leading Industry Partner for the MoD providing complex facilities management and professional services. The Information and Technology Department deliver, support and maintain the user facing data, business insight and IT Services to enable the organisation to deliver its contractual responsibilities.
The Role
The Head of Information and Technology has overall leadership responsibility for the Information and Technology Department (approx. 33 FTE employees + contractors); direct reports include:
* Data, MI & Reporting Lead
* Architecture & Engineering Lead
* Technology Operations Lead
* Technology Enablement Lead
They ensure that reliable, secure, resilient and quality IT and Information services are delivered to our client’s users and end customers (the Army).
Primary duties
* Leadership of the Information and Technology department, providing clear direction and developing and motivating the team.
* Develop an IT strategy that fully supports contractual obligations and commercial aspirations.
* Ownership of the Enterprise Architecture and IT Roadmap that will deliver the IT Strategy and align to the Business Plan and business objectives.
* Delivery of the IT Strategy and Roadmap, including budget, talent, systems and solutions, business engagement, and relevant 3rd parties.
* Ensure that effective and reliable IT operations are available to all users as agreed; formalise this into Service Level Agreements / KPIs for technology services consumed by business.
* Oversee Information and Technology governance, policies and compliance.
* Identify and mitigate risks (including IT Security and Data Protection risk); ensure this is aligned with the corporate Risk Framework.
* Support Internal & External audit activity that relates to Data/Information and Technology and ensure compliance to agreed control documentation.
* Accountable for the Data, Business Insight and Reporting team to ensure they fulfil responsibilities including contract Compliance Reporting.
* Define and lead the Innovation process, ensuring that technology enabled solutions are identified and exploited.
* Develop, refine and communicate Information and Technology policies to internal users, provide guidance and training to users to help ensure good practices are followed, and ensure compliance as expected by the ELT and proven by audits (e.g. Data Protection, Cyber security skills).
Desirable skills, experience and qualifications:
* Experience of working in a secure/restricted environment (e.g. for MoD or other Government department, or another MoD supplier).
* Experience in CAFM solutions (e.g. Maximo, Facilio).
* Experience of shifting from on-premise to cloud solutions is desirable
* Relevant certifications such as CISSP, PMP, ITIL, or CIO-level certifications.
* Degree qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. Computer Science, Information Management, Business Management) is highly desirable.
Prerequisites for employment
* Eligibility to undertake BPSS & SC clearance (current SC clearance is desirable).
* UK Drivers license (desirable, to travel between locations).
Location:
Hybrid, with significant presence required on-site (Salisbury plain) initially, evolving to approximately 2-3 dpw over the longer term.
