Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and results‑driven Account Manager to oversee and grow a nationwide portfolio of waste‑management contracts. You will build strong client relationships, ensure exceptional service delivery, and proactively drive account retention, development and profitability.
The role is split 80% account management and 20% new business, giving you the opportunity to nurture long‑term partnerships while identifying and developing growth opportunities. Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the ability to analyse client needs and market trends are essential for success.
Responsibilities
* Manage client accounts in line with KPIs, SLAs and service expectations.
* Build strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.
* Conduct regular account reviews focusing on value, service quality and profitability; identify opportunities to improve and grow accounts.
* Provide clients with updates on new technologies, innovations and industry legislation.
* Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and generate appointments to support new sales.
* Lead negotiations and support the closing of new or expanded services.
* Work closely with operational and customer service teams to ensure issues are resolved quickly and professionally.
* Maintain and develop relationships with subcontractors to support a reliable nationwide service.
* Deliver presentations and maintain visible contact with key account personnel.
* Update senior management on account performance, risks and opportunities.
* Contribute to best‑practice development and support junior team members.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in contract management or B2B account management.
* Knowledge of the waste industry (preferred).
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and customer insights.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Confident working independently and as part of a wider team.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts.
* High attention to detail and a proactive, results‑focused approach.
* Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* May require security checks for access to certain secure sites.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £37,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
