LING HOUSE MEDICAL CENTRE
GP Assistant hours per week
We are looking to recruit a GP Assistant to join our friendly team to work at both our main site at Ling House and our Mornington Street branch. Ling House Medical Centre is a traditionally run GP training practice with its main site and Mornington Street branch both being located in central Keighley.
We are looking for applicants who have excellent communication skills and good knowledge of Medical Terminology and strong IT skills. Previous experience of working in a GP setting would be an advantage
Main duties of the job
GP Clinician Support
NHS health check invites
Clinical audits and data quality checks
Promote patient engagement and health promotion
Liaise with hospitals and clinics for emergency admissions and advice
Complete basic non-opinion forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign
Code clinical letters
Process online medical access requests
Prepare month end claims to the prescribing authority
Administration Support
Process new patient registrations and deductions
Check Electronic Referral System daily and carry out actions
Check cytology pre-notification lists and telephone patients for
Support secretaries and cover for leave
Process referrals and task management
Send reminders for overdue childhood immunisations and follow up
Report building repairs and chase up when required
Fire warden
Attend and participate in practice meetings
Safeguarding
Work with the Practice Manager and Safeguarding Leads to run the safeguarding system to ensure robust systems. Maintain the register, update codes and information and provide up to date reports and documentation when required for meetings.
Communication
This job involves contact with patients, public and staff from other healthcare providers. The role requires excellent customer care skills, polite manner both on the phone and face to face as well as excellent written communication skills.
About us
Ling House Medical Centre is a traditionally run GP Practice based in Keighley with Patient care at it's centre. The Practice runs from two sites which are within easy walking distance from each other. We have facilities in place for easy access for disabled people and parking is available.
We are a well established teaching Practice with a large team of clinicians including GP's, Advanced Clinicians, Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists and Social Prescribers who are supported by our experienced Reception, Administration and Management team.

JOB DESCRIPTION GP ASSISTANT
Reporting to The Practice Manager
Location Ling House Medical Centre
Hours of work hours per week working Monday to Friday
Job Role
To provide effective support to the Clinical, Management and Administrative Team
General Practice Assistants GPAs form part of the multi-disciplinary team within primary care and support the clinicians in the smooth running of the surgery by handling routine administration enabling the clinician to focus on the patient.
The responsibility of the role is to provide support to the following teams
All tasks should be carried out in accordance with Practice policies and procedures.
Main responsibilities of the role
GP/Clinician
Sending out bulk texts and invitation links for various clinics to patients as and when required
Data quality, check clinical coding is correct and the latest QOF codes and templates are being used.
NHS health check invites and code checks
Review and recalls for DMARDS/QOF
Complete clinical audits when requested
Tackling Health Inequalities, promoting patient engagement and health promotion
Arranging appropriate referrals, signposting patients, arranging tests and follow up appointments of patients
Liaise with hospitals and clinics to arrange urgent/emergency appointments
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, benefits agency forms etc.
Helping GP/clinicians liaise with outside agencies e.g. getting an on-call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s)
Extracting information from clinical letters that need coding; adding this to patients notes. Supporting with QOF reviews.
Process online medical access requests

Assist with the preparation and running of covid, flu and other clinics
Fast track follow ups
Advice and guidance referrals and task management
Administration Support
