The Opportunity We’re looking for a Training & Maintenance Facilitator – Indirect Fires Simulator (IIDFS) to join a highly skilled team supporting the delivery of immersive, high‑impact training to UK Land Forces. You’ll work across cutting-edge simulation systems including: IIDFS – Interim Indirect Fires Simulator JFST – Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer Vulcan – Supporting Boxer & Challenger 3 synthetic training This is a varied role combining training delivery, system maintenance, field support, and international deployment opportunities. What You’ll Be Doing Training Delivery Deliver clear, confident training on guns, mortars, artillery and gunnery simulation systems. Guide participants through objectives, scenarios, and safe system operation. Provide hands‑on demonstrations (approx. 10% of the role). System Support & Maintenance Carry out Level 1 and Level 2 maintenance on simulation equipment. Support configuration, reimaging, updates, and fixes across IIDFS, JFST and Vulcan systems. Troubleshoot issues in real-time during live exercises. Field Support Travel across the UK (and internationally) to support exercises. Install, fit, and test equipment in field environments — sometimes in tough conditions. Ensure all systems are fit for purpose and safely operated. Travel & Deployment Pattern Regular UK travel with deployments supporting military exercises. Typical pattern: ~2 weeks on exercise, followed by TOIL. Occasional weekend work based on exercise schedules. Who We’re Looking For You’ll thrive in this role if you have: Essential: UK Army background Experience delivering training (simulation experience ideal — VBS4 especially) Strong IT proficiency Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance knowledge Full UK driving licence ability to drive overseas You’ll join a friendly, high-performing team of 14, working closely with a core group of 5.
