Midwifery Manager – Community – Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust

The Community Midwifery Manager oversees 24‑hour community midwifery services, ensuring high standards of care. The role involves leading and supporting staff, managing resources, and meeting the needs of women and families.
As a visible role model, you will advocate for women, partners, and midwives while working within the senior leadership team. You will also contribute to service development, quality improvement, and innovation.
Balancing managerial and clinical duties, you will typically work three days in management and two in clinical practice, providing both strategic oversight and hands‑on support.
Main Duties
* Oversee the day‑to‑day running of community midwifery services on a 24‑hour basis
* Ensure high standards of clinical care and professional practice are maintained
* Lead, support, and supervise midwifery staff
* Coordinate staffing levels and allocate resources effectively
* Act as a role model and advocate for women, birthing partners, and midwives
* Collaborate with the senior midwifery leadership team
* Contribute to service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives
* Balance managerial responsibilities with regular clinical practice
* Provide strategic oversight alongside hands‑on clinical support
* Ensure services are responsive to the needs of women and families
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Registered Midwife with current UK NMC Registration
* Degree in a related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence
* Evidence of learning beyond registration evidenced by a relevant professional portfolio
* Masters qualification in a relevant discipline or working towards the qualification
* Professional Midwifery Advocate
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to the post
* Previous recent experience in a senior midwifery role (band 6 or above)
* Understanding of Local Maternity Systems and Maternity
* Experience in interpreting national guidance into local action
