Purpose of the role
Business activity at Garmin Swansea has grown significantly over the past 12 months, placing increased demands on production. To maintain our high standards and effectively support expanding production, a new position is required for a Production Planner to ensure operational efficiency and continued product excellence.
Key Duties and responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and maintain customer build schedules across all sites, ensuring workflow, materials, and capacity align with production targets and customer requirements.
Monitor production progress, anticipate potential constraints, and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency and delivery performance.
Oversee daily MRP processes, ensuring timely execution and allocation of works orders, effective stock management, and accurate sales forecasting.
Liaise with Production, Inventory, Fulfilment, and Sales teams to address shortages, bottlenecks, and ERP-related issues, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across departments.
Support the Production Manager with resource planning, coordination of activities, reporting, and providing cover during absences.
Maintain accurate data for build times, capacity, and production reports, highlighting any issues or risks to departmental performance.
Promote high-quality standards across all departments, ensuring adherence to documentation, housekeeping, and continuous improvement processes.
Assist with quality investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of change management to drive operational excellence.
Contribute to efficiency and process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and overall manufacturing performance.
Education and Experience
Educated to A-Level success as a minimum.
Higher or Degree-Level is desirable
2-3 Years experience of planning in a fast-moving production environment
2-3 Years experience of MRP and ERP systems
Excellent communication skills.
Strong work ethic.
Good knowledge of MS applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
Ability to manage own workload, finish tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong analytical skills to identify challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Good SAGE 200 knowledge or demonstrable knowledge of a similar ERP system.
