You will be joining a multidisciplinary environmental team, working closely with other disciplines to ensure freshwater ecological tasks for projects are delivered successfully, with a key focus on managing a range of aquatic ecological deliverables such as hydroecology studies, EIAs, HRAs, and WFDs, as well as Drought Plans and Environmental destination assessments. As part of this role, you will advise clients and design teams on the implementation of national and international environmental and ecological best practices. You will define freshwater ecological monitoring requirements, manage sub-consultants for surveys, prepare technical reports, and undertake project management, including resource planning and budget management. There will also be opportunities to contribute to work winning, including developing proposals.

Minimum requirements include a relevant degree in Ecology, Biology, Zoology, Aquatic Ecology, Hydro-ecology, or related fields at Grade 2.1 or above, ability to undertake macrophyte surveys and river habitat assessments, and demonstrable knowledge of freshwater habitats and aquatic species ecology. Experience in freshwater ecology impact assessments, HRAs, EIAs, and understanding of UK conservation legislation are essential. Strong communication, report writing skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team are also required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Habitat Regulation Assessments, Water Framework Directive assessments, knowledge of invasive species, hydroecology, ecological flow setting, and biological indices.
