Senior Engineering Manager – High Voltage Design (North West England or Wales)

Are you a seasoned engineering professional with a passion for high-voltage infrastructure and a strong background in substation design? Our client is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead complex design projects across the UK’s energy network.

Our client is a leading UK construction and infrastructure business, renowned for delivering complex engineering solutions across sectors including energy, transportation, and utilities. With a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and safety, they play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the UK’s infrastructure landscape.
Location:
Based in North West England or Wales, with travel to the head office in Manchester and project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the design of high-voltage substation projects (GIS and AIS).
* Oversee protection and control (P&C) systems integration.
* Ensure compliance with National Grid standards and certifications.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically sound and commercially viable solutions.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to strategic planning and technical excellence.
Experience & Qualifications:
* 10+ years of experience in high-voltage engineering, with a strong focus on design.
* Proven track record working on substations, including GIS or AIS systems.
* Deep understanding of protection and control systems.
* Familiarity with TP141, SR137, SR173, NGSP, CDAE, LCDAE.
* National Grid certifications are essential.
