The opportunity: We are looking for a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful applicant will support the Firm's Intellectual Property practice, handling high volumes of IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. You will work on rapidly developing IP portfolios of worldwide clients, requiring a global mindset and the ability to coordinate effectively across cultures and teams. The role involves collaborating with technology teams, paralegals, lawyers, and partners, providing key support to senior professionals.

Main responsibilities:
1. Supporting global IP practice on various matters including trade mark formalities, prosecution, maintenance, renewal, and post-registration steps.
2. Preparing client reports independently.
3. Supporting global IP M&A activities, including recordal of assignments, licenses, security interests, and changes at local registries.
4. Conducting IP asset due diligence using official registries and screening platforms.
5. Supporting anti-counterfeiting programs, including drafting guides and liaising with infringers.
6. Performing trade mark scan searches and drafting reports.
7. Developing legal knowledge to support firm lawyers and clients.
8. Ensuring compliance with firm procedures and standards.
9. Managing docket and deadlines, proactively communicating workload issues.
Essential criteria:
* Relevant undergraduate degree with 2.1 or above preferred.
* Legal background with trade mark/IP experience preferred.
* Passion for Intellectual Property and willingness to develop expertise.
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable criteria:
* CITMA qualification advantageous.
