The Opportunity Are you a passionate linguist with the ability to transport students from the rainy hills of the Peak District to the vibrant streets of Madrid and Seville? Can you inspire a love for Hispanic culture while building the confidence students need to communicate in one of the world’s most widely spoken languages? We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Spanish Teacher to join a successful Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department in Stockport. Known for its iconic railway viaduct and its unique position as a gateway between urban Manchester and rural Cheshire, Stockport is a town with high educational aspirations. We are looking for an educator who can make language learning accessible, exciting, and central to the school’s global outlook. Core Responsibilities Curriculum Delivery: Planning and facilitating high-quality Spanish lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The ability to teach A-Level Spanish is highly desirable. Communication-First Pedagogy: Using a variety of interactive methods—including Target Language (TL) immersion, choral mimicry, and digital tools—to develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Cultural Enrichment: Bringing the Spanish-speaking world to life through the study of film, music, literature, and festivals, fostering a genuine "intercultural understanding." GCSE Preparation: Guiding students through the rigours of the AQA or Edexcel GCSE specification, with a particular focus on building spontaneous speaking skills and high-level translation accuracy. Literacy & Grammar: Strengthening students' understanding of linguistic structures, including verb conjugations and tenses, in a way that is logical, fun, and memorable. Pastoral Leadership: Serving as a dedicated Form Tutor, providing a supportive environment and acting as a consistent point of contact for a specific group of students. Why This School? Stockport’s Community Spirit: Work in a town that balances a strong local identity with an outward-looking, international perspective, providing a rewarding environment for MFL specialists. A Hub for Languages: Join a department that values collaboration, shared resources, and the use of authentic materials to move beyond the textbook. International Links: Benefit from a school that encourages global citizenship, with potential opportunities for coordinating language exchanges, trips to Spain, or virtual partnerships. Professional Growth: Access to specialist CPD in EPI (Extensive Processing Instruction), Adaptive Teaching, and pathways toward Head of MFL or International Coordinator roles. Candidate Profile Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a degree in Spanish or a related discipline. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are warmly encouraged to apply. Linguistic Fluency: Exceptional proficiency in Spanish, with the ability to model authentic pronunciation and nuanced grammar to students of all abilities. Engaging Presence: An inspiring communicator who can overcome the "language barrier" with energy, empathy, and a variety of creative teaching strategies. Character: A resilient, reflective, and collaborative educator who believes that learning a second language is a vital life skill and a window into a broader world.
