Clinical pharmacist

Offer description

Fixed Term for 12 months.

Do you want to be at the heart of digital innovation and safer use of medicines?

NHS Fife Pharmacy & Medicines Directorate is excited to offer a unique opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to play a pivotal role in the rollout of HEPMA across our hospital sites.

This is a chance to be at the forefront of digital change, shaping how medicines are prescribed, administered, and monitored to improve safety, efficiency, and patient outcomes. You’ll be instrumental in embedding HEPMA into clinical practice, supporting staff through change, and ensuring the system delivers real benefits for patients and professionals alike.

NHS Fife serves a population of approximately 370,000 and is supported by an integrated team of around 300 pharmacy professionals, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. Our services span Acute and Community hospitals, General Practices, Mental Health, and specialist teams.

Collaboration is central to our values. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, while helping to shape the future of digital pharmacy in Fife.

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking pharmacist looking to join the team introducing and developing a completely new culture of prescribing and medicines use. The successful applicant will work closely with site pharmacy teams, wider multidisciplinary teams and other members of the Digital & Information Pharmacy Team. Good team working, project management and interpersonal skills are essential along with a strong foundation in practice. In return, this post offers an excellent development opportunity for the right candidate - gaining exposure to a large-scale transformational change and will provide a platform for career enhancement like no other.

You will work across the Digital & Information and Clinical teams undertaking both digital and clinical tasks to support implementation of HEPMA. The post holder’s clinical commitment will be flexed around digital project implementation demands and timelines.

This post will involve hybrid working with a base of Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, however the pharmacy department within NHS Fife operates as an integrated team and there may be a requirement to work across NHS Fife when required, particularly during periods of implementation. It is recognised that this role will also require an element of remote working.

You will be part of the pharmacy team contributing to rotas for weekends, public holidays and the on-call pharmacy service. During HEPMA roll out periods the commitment for these will be adjusted to enable shift patterns and on call support for HEPMA.

Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here Hub • Blink (joinblink.com) If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

For informal enquiries, please contact Duncan Wilson, Lead Pharmacist for Digital & Information on 07976564817 or at duncan.wilson2@nhs.scot
