We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Operations Management Team, acting as a key liaison between our accounting service team, finance business partners, and various stakeholders. You will be part of a dynamic and flexible accounting team that plays a vital role within the wider Finance team.
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial information and general accounting services across multiple business areas or projects. Your duties will include overseeing period-end close activities, providing variance and trend analysis, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Other responsibilities include:
1. Reviewing key outputs and workload of the Finance Operations Service Team and collaborating with other Senior Accountants to maintain high service quality.
2. Supporting initiatives to improve service quality and efficiency within Finance Operations and the wider finance team.
3. Developing business area knowledge and working with Finance Business Partners to interpret key cost drivers, contracts, and financial balances, assessing their impact on performance and ensuring accurate financial treatments.
4. Contributing to monthly reporting with meaningful commentary based on business knowledge.
5. Working with stakeholders to ensure accurate technical accounting decisions and liaising with Group Financial Control for approval.
6. Engaging with management teams to resolve queries and align on financial matters.
7. Overseeing and supporting Accountants with incoming queries, ensuring quality and timeliness.
8. Delegating tasks to the Finance Operations Service Team and providing hands-on support when needed.
9. Adhering to all relevant finance and business policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA) with broad finance experience.
* Commitment to delivering excellent stakeholder service.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing teams.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.
* Skill in distilling complex data into clear insights.
* Deep understanding of financial controls and accounting principles.
* Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Open to procedural change and continuous improvement.
* Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems and digital collaboration tools.
* Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
