About the Company and Department
Alfa Laval is a leading global supplier of products and solutions for heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling through our key products – heat exchangers, separators, pumps, and valves. Our team of Field Service Engineers are on the front line of customer support, carrying out servicing and maintenance of Alfa Laval equipment and associated products. They ensure high-quality service and are a key part of our service business.
About the job
This role is home-based, attending customer sites across Scotland and the UK. Overnight stays are common, and you will participate in our 24-hour call-out system and work some weekends on a roster basis.
You will work on centrifugal rotating equipment, providing field support, troubleshooting, and training at customer locations. Responsibilities include ensuring reliable operation, optimal performance, and efficiency of our separation equipment, performing preventive maintenance, emergency and warranty repairs, installation supervision, commissioning, system audits, process troubleshooting, and technical support.
Your duties will include:
* Commissioning, servicing, and fault finding of new and existing equipment.
* Training customer maintenance and supervisory personnel on equipment operation and maintenance tasks.
* Performing trial test runs to ensure performance meets specifications.
* Providing process and technical support to the department and customers.
* Collaborating with the sales team on equipment audits to generate new business.
* Meeting KPIs for the service team, including submitting job reports, commissioning documentation, and daily timesheets.

You are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and numerate. You possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, are organized, and enjoy working independently. You take pride in your work, maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and quality, and are customer-focused, committed to continuous improvement. You should be comfortable working in line with Alfa Laval's core values: Action, Interaction, and Satisfaction.
Candidates must be able to spend nights away from home as required, have a good level of physical fitness, hold a valid full UK driving license, and have the right to work in the UK.
You are based within the Central Eastern area of England.
What you know
* Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent technical training (e.g., City and Guilds/NVQ/BTEC).
* Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, preferably with separation equipment.
* Competence with electronic equipment testing, fault finding, schematic diagrams, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, EthernetIP, PID, and Profibus connectivity.
* Desirable skills include experience with automated production lines, generators, compressors, pumps, or marine industry. Exposure to Alfa Laval equipment is advantageous.
* Previous experience in wastewater, food processing, power stations, factory automation, marine, or military industries is beneficial.
* Must be able to spend nights away from home and have a good physical fitness level. A full UK driving license is essential.
