A vacancy has arisen for a Team Leader to join the Ash Handling team based at West Burton Power Station. This role will be responsible for the effective supervision of a team responsible for ash handling at West Burton Power Station, including any sub-contractors and agency staff under their control.
The Role Briefly Encompasses The Following
* Manage, lead by example, motivate, and deploy work to a team of employees who are authorized and trained to carry out their tasks. Conduct pre-job and post-job briefs.
* Ensure all procedures are followed correctly and in line with company policies, current legislation, and site rules.
* Maximize and ensure all work is correctly managed and covered within their scope of work, ensuring work is completed on time with all relevant paperwork signed off where appropriate.
* Provide assistance in the field when needed, operating mobile plant and equipment, and covering managerial duties.
* Ensure all operational measuring tools are up to date and forwarded to relevant parties on time (e.g., KPI data).
* Utilize manpower effectively to optimize performance across shifts, ensuring all health & safety procedures are followed and adhered to.
* Brief and inform team members through toolbox talks and provide necessary information and instructions to ensure compliance.
* Conduct regular visits and inspections to ensure safe working practices are maintained in line with client requirements.
* Identify and implement continuous service improvements.
* Manage holiday and rota cover to prevent lapses in production, loading, or material movement, which could lead to client complaints.
* Ensure all team members have appropriate inductions, including HIS and agency or subcontractor personnel.
* Manage the fleet of vehicles, ensuring safety checks, pre-starts, and bookings are completed, and vehicles are maintained according to legislation.
* Attend meetings with Hargreaves and clients as required.
* Update and maintain relevant information on HIS and client systems daily, weekly, or monthly as appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Skills/Attributes
* Excellent communication skills at all levels, including colleagues, contractors, and clients.
* Ability to maintain accurate documented records.
* IOSH certification at minimum.
* WAMITAB qualification.
* Experience operating machinery such as ADT, F.E.L, tractor, water bowser, dozer, etc.
* Good computer skills.
* First aid trained.
* Reactive and proactive in service and operations to prevent disruptions.
* Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility.
* Good personal presentation and hygiene.
* Flexible approach to work.
* Strong team leadership qualities.
* Ability to work independently and proactively.
* Good time management and willingness to work or cover operations as needed.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Willingness to undertake additional training related to the role.
