Job summary
North London NHS Foundation Trust seeks to appoint an enthusiastic full-time consultant psychiatrist to our Barnet West Older People's Community Mental Health Team. This established post has become available due to the previous substantive consultant moving to a different clinical area. The role offers 10 Programmed Activities per week—7.5 PAs for direct clinical care and up to 2.5 PAs for supporting professional activity. The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership, participate in management activities, and contribute to team performance, service development, and clinical pathway development. The role involves working in the Barnet West Golders Green/Hendon sector of the Older People's Community Mental Health Team (8 PAs), and supporting the Barnet Memory Service (2 PAs) with assessment and treatment of patients with cognitive concerns within the allocated sector. The appointment is subject to the annual job planning process under the New Consultant Contract.

The post involves providing clinical leadership and RC responsibility within Barnet Older People's CMHT - Golders Green/Hendon sector. Responsibilities include senior medical input to the multidisciplinary team, participation in team meetings, providing psychiatric advice on diagnosis and treatment, ensuring assessment, treatment, and follow-up of elderly psychiatric patients, and promoting mental health and independence among elderly populations. The post also includes supporting the Barnet Memory Service, participating in weekly MDT meetings, and engaging in management and governance activities. The post-holder will play an integral role in team performance, service development, and clinical pathway development.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualifications or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
* Full GMC registration with a current license to practice.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility.
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months.
* Section 12 approval or able to achieve within 3 months.
* In good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions.
Transport
* Valid UK driving license or evidence of proposed alternative.
Clinical skills, knowledge, and experience
* Excellent knowledge of the specialty.
* Strong clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and broad medical knowledge.
* Excellent communication skills in English.
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Decision-making based on evidence and experience, including contributions from others.
* Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
* Wide range of specialist/sub-specialist NHS or comparable experience.

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A DBS check will be required to check for any criminal convictions.
Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 per annum plus London Weighting of £2,162 per year.
