At Adur & Worthing we are committed to taking an entrepreneurial and commercial approach to serving our communities and managing the built estate as well as possible.
So…
1. Are you a surveyor with professional knowledge of commercial and community property leasing?
2. Do you wish to work with various types of buildings, our customers and tenants, including inspecting properties?
3. Are you happy managing service charges, negotiating lease changes, rent reviews and renewals?
4. Are you interested in helping us address environmental issues and requirements?
5. Are you able to use initiative to start, complete and finish tasks?
6. Do you want a change to a participative, supportive and professional team?
We are looking for an exceptional candidate to take on this opportunity to work in the Property & Investment Team within the Major Project & Investment Service at Adur & Worthing Councils.
The councils have significant holdings of community and commercial property and we want to maximise income and/or community value from these assets while updating our compliance with environmental standards. Working across the Adur District and Worthing Borough administrative area provides a unique breadth of opportunity, as we own a wide variety of property types. We also have a programme to improve how our community and sports facilities are used and leased.
This is an environment in which your tactical and commercial skills will flourish. We will want you to get the ball rolling and quickly gain understanding of parts of the portfolio that require your attention. You will deal with outstanding issues, take on an existing diversified workload, get to know the requirements and support the Property and Investment Manager in managing and improving our estate.
In this role, you will be working with a high-performing professional team. We are therefore looking for someone with adaptability, initiative, communication skills, and calm under pressure. This is a supportive and collaborative team that values work being done in a timely fashion and will help you to deliver, and grow.
We look forward to you being an instrumental part of our ambitious vision for transforming this dynamic, waterfront area, bringing more growth and prosperity to the people of Adur & Worthing by making the assets we own compliant, income producing and/or of immense value to the community.
Staff are our most important asset and we therefore have a benefit package which reflects our continuing commitment to our employees. This includes:
7. Generous leave entitlement; a minimum of 26 days + Bank Holiday entitlement
8. Local Government Pension
9. Training & development
10. Occupational Health
11. Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
12. Employee resource groups/networks
13. Buddy Support Programme
14. Flexible working options
We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Staff work in a supportive and safe environment, recognising their responsibility to value and respect each other’s contributions. Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no-one is harassed, bullied or victimised. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, staff engagement forums and are keen to hear from applicants from a variety of different backgrounds.
