The role
Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Estates Department as an Electrical Engineer.
As an Electrical Engineer you will provide a comprehensive building services electrical engineering function to manage estates capital projects as well as overseeing the day-to-day repairs & maintenance issues and managing the variety of diverse contractors.
What you’ll do
1. Provide professional and proactive advice in respect of electrical engineering issues, including CCTV and alarm systems, carrying out condition surveys as required and preparing maintenance plans to inform medium term financial forecast.
2. Maintain detailed knowledge of all legislation, guidance and best practice impacting on the building services engineering and project management functions, as well as acting as authorised/responsible person/duty holder in respect of building services installations across the estate.
3. Lead projects ensuring that the requirements of the organisation as specified by service users and other stakeholders, are captured in sufficient detail, rigorously challenged, confirmed by the project owner and documented.
4. Contribute to the production of feasibility studies, preparing initial design information, preparing advice and recommending input from specialists where appropriate.
5. Carry out design work in respect of works and services; prepare drawings, specifications and other tender documents to accurately convey the scope and content of the works or services.
6. Prepare and submit applications for statutory and contractual consents in a timely manner, liaising with procurement specialists to obtain tenders for works or services.
You will be required to participate in a Standby & call out rota where you will be required to be on standby one week in every 4 for which there is an allowance of £34.49 paid per session (9 sessions per week).
The role involves attending sites to both carry out investigations and review of issues, as well as managing contractors on site as required. This will attract a mileage allowance of £0.45p per mile.
