Including the development of concepts, maintaining the systems of existing products, and testing systems. Overseeing that plans and development of firmware is aligned to strategic plans for the function. Thoroughly testing firmware and building to address the concepts and feature specifications. Building effective processes, policies and systems and developing the company on a global level for the function. Creates effective and efficient leading-edge solutions for customers. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for driving leading edge firmware solutions for the company. Participates in creating the functions concepts and the roadmap for firmware products and services. Responsible for ensuring product innovation maintains design, quality and cost-effective principles. Responsible for maintenance of build systems. Develops algorithms for measurement data processing. Testing and debugging new and existing code. Creation of interface code. Ensures that the function is continuously improving its processes / products / services. Implements protocols for network and industrial communication. Responsible for planning the priorities and goals and tracking deliverables. Creates regular reports to the head of the function. Manages projects from initiation and design, through unit testing, to handover. Acts as a key subject matter expert advisor when required. Working with other disciplines, responsible for creation of global best practice procedures. Considers customer requirements in plans. Ensures documentation captures tests, code, Policies, Procedures and work breakdown. Conducts code reviews. Evaluates build and test tools. Liaises with other sites and departments to ensure effective processes across the globe. Works to continuously improve team, or function. KEY INTERACTIONS With internal stakeholders laterally and vertically; Engineering, R&D, Product Management and Project management. With limited external stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Relevant computer or electrical engineering Degree. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Good skills in C / C++. Practical skills in firmware development on embedded systems. Basic skills of communication protocols. Knowledge of automated testing and continuous integration. Knowledge of different scripting languages. Working collaboratively with Engineering and project teams to achieve solutions. Understands the market and the roadmap. Considering and designing innovative solutions to build effective products for customers. Working in a team to ensure high quality production methods are achieved. Manages engineering projects. Experience documenting design and instructions. Experience of creating cost effective solutions. TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS Up to 10 % annually, potentially globally.
