Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
These are Bank positions and the shift is 6-8 hours per month across various shift patterns.

Are you interested in helping BME communities overcome barriers to accessing NHSGGC Health Services? Could you educate and support others, while contributing to improving NHSGGC services in the future?
About the role: You will be working with a Peer Co-ordinator to engage with and educate communities on specific topics and will use knowledge gained from on-going training and support.
You will collect feedback which will help NHSGGC improve its services and the ways in which people access them.
You may be working with people in distress which will require postholders to be emotionally and mentally resilient. You will be expected to address community groups and will be given training on the most effective way to so this. You will receive induction, training and on-going supervision, including a network of other peer workers employed within NHSGGC.
The post holder will
* undertake community engagement to understand the experience of and barriers to accessing NHSGGC health services, including vaccination and screening programmes among individuals from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, and provide feedback to assist with programme improvements and planning.
* will have an interest in improving access to services and reducing health inequalities. They will also have an understanding of the issues experienced by people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and those from areas of high deprivation including barriers to access and addressing additional needs.
* involve direct engagement with a wide range of communities and individuals, and will require experience of community engagement.
* Build supportive and respectful relationships with individuals and community groups.
* Provide information and promote specific NHSGGC health services.
* Gather feedback which will be used to improve services.
* Contribute to the development of the peer worker programme and role within NHSGGC.
Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
What you will need:
* An interest in local communities and a willingness to help others.
* An understanding of issues and barriers facing BME communities.
* Excellent communication skills, including group facilitation.
* The ability to work well in a team.
* Compliance with all NHSGGC policies, including Confidentiality and Data Management.
