Hitachi Rail is offering an exciting opportunity to join its growing UK Services business by joining the Etches Park team in Derby. The fleet consists of 33 five-car class 810 Bi-mode trains that will revolutionise rail in Derby.
Role Overview
In this role, you will support the customer with live management of the railway operation. You will be the first point of contact for rail line controllers within the control room, Network Rail signallers, Train Drivers, onboard staff, and platform staff as required. You will work closely with maintenance planners to ensure all maintenance requirements and routes are aligned with the depot maintenance plan.

Key Responsibilities
1. Undertake the role of “Maintainer Control Room Contact” as set out in the TSA Contract.
2. Support the management of all fleets in service.
3. Act as the initial point of contact for all live operational interfaces at all Integrated Control Centres.
4. Coordinate deployment of technical riding technicians and station-based technicians to support in-service fleets.
5. Monitor trains in service to ensure maintenance plans are followed and trains are delivered to depot as planned.
6. Manage in-service provisions and faults, providing advice to control room staff, signallers, train drivers, onboard staff, and platform staff.
7. Record faults into Hitachi SAP-based maintenance management system.
8. Capture in-service maintenance requirements from the operational fleet.
9. Manage train re-allocation to depots regarding damage and vandalism.
10. Be familiar with ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) requirements and their applicability.
11. Input and record data into control room logs.
12. Monitor fleet impact on passenger operations and maintenance plans.
13. Work with maintenance depots to ensure proactive materials and staffing for fault rectification.
14. Utilize control room management systems and Hitachi’s SAP maintenance systems.
15. Read and interpret traction and rolling stock drawings and specifications.
16. Undertake competency assessments according to requirements.
17. Develop professionally and foster good stakeholder relationships.
18. Learn new skills as per Hitachi’s business demands.
19. Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel to complete duties.
20. Deputise for the Control Room Team Leader as required.
21. Perform other duties as instructed by the line manager.
About You
Licences / Competences
* Knowledge of rules and regulations, railway operations, and traction/rolling stock technical understanding.
* Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
* Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, SAP).
* Experience in railway control rooms is advantageous.
Qualifications
* Vocational engineering qualifications and experience.
* Management training qualifications or equivalent experience.
Behavioural Attributes

* Ability to work in stressful environments for extended periods.
