Grade/Salary: (Band G) £42,839 to £48,226 per annum

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Sandwell Council House, Oldbury (Hybrid)

Sandwell Council’s IT Division is seeking an accomplished Systems Development Manager to join its established team based in Oldbury, West Midlands. The organisation operates to a hybrid working model.

This post sits within the Application Systems team and is responsible for the support, configuration and ongoing management of third‑party business applications used across Adult Social Care.

The role is centred on application support and supplier engagement and does not involve ICT infrastructure or engineering support.


In this role you will

* Ensure the systems are managed and maintained, which includes facilitating upgrades as per supplier roadmaps
* Review the systems as required to ensure that the service makes the best use of the systems, that they meet their business requirements and support the services to use the full capabilities of the systems
* Develop the systems as required by the service areas to ensure that they continue to meet the needs of the Adult Social Care Services
* Take the lead for upgrades which includes developing robust test plans and undertaking testing
* Take on change manager / project manager role in terms of implementing new systems and enhancements to existing systems
* Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post to assist the Service Area in the fulfilment of its objectives commensurate with the post holder's salary grade, abilities and aptitudes


Attributes that you would bring to the role

* Educated to Qualification Level 5 qualification (Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma)
* Worked on systems projects requiring a significant amount of change management
* Knowledge of operational systems issues and the impact on related performance management framework
* Understanding of how computerised systems can be used effectively to support and manage the delivery of social care services
