Job Description


Salary : £24,710- £26,000

Hours : 22-37.5 hours per week (negotiable)

Location : LifeLine House and local boroughs in schools & community


MAIN JOB SUMMARY:



To support the Youth Development Workers (YDW) in engaging young people in mentoring and positive activities which increase their safety and their purpose in life, positively expand their social networks and give them access to mentors and positive role models. Through these activities you will identify and train young people to become agents for change within their community through our ambassador programme.



This role is being performed well when you:



1. Support the youth team and programme effectively when on the street, in mentoring sessions and positive activities.


2. Support young people that are on the edge of school exclusion, mental health issues or Serious Youth Violence through after school 1-2-1s, positive activities and holiday programmes.


3. Develop community profiles and mapping of young people in their communities, developing and co-designing programmes that meet the needs of the youth in their communities.


4. Support the programme and meeting key performance indicators in line with funding outcomes.


5. Young people engage in the programmes process and choose to make safe choices


6. Support LifeLine’s wider objectives of supporting young people to remain in education and have an improved attendance, behaviour and wellbeing achievement.


7. Uphold LifeLine’s positive reputation with the young people, parents, schools and the community on the estates we work on.


8. Ensure personal development and mentoring is embedded into all the activities and young people regularly attend.


9. Parents, schools and other professionals are engaged to provide the best support team for the young people.


10. Support YDW’s to collate and evidence paperwork on time and in line with our funder’s requirements.


11. Assist with the delivery of other programmes as and when needed

Please note the above-mentioned duties are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required by management to carry reasonable duties in line with the role.


The post holder will be consulted by LifeLine on any material compulsory changes to the Job Description.


QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT:


Preferred:

Experience:


· Delivering youth work in a community outreach or detached capacity

· Working with challenging young people in a paid capacity

· Supporting delivering of positive activities/youth clubs

· Knowledge of and understanding for Specialist activities: Dance, Sports, Arts, Gym etc.


Essential

Experience:


· Taking part in activities for young people

· Volunteered in a youth setting with young people on the edge of criminal exploitation or poor mental health


Skills & Abilities


· Ability to develop relationships with young people within the community and at positive activities

· Ability to work well in a team

· Ability to support young people in a group setting

· Ability to relate and empathise with young people in order to encourage development

· Good communication skills

· Willingness and ability to be flexible

· Ability to use database packages


Qualifications:


· Level 2 in English & Maths

· A relevant degree


Knowledge

· An understanding of the local community
