Job Purpose
* To lead and manage a team within the Family Safeguarding Service, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, timely and child-focused service in line with statutory responsibilities. The role is pivotal in achieving positive outcomes for children and families by promoting effective safeguarding, early intervention, and multi-agency collaboration.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
* Provide strong leadership and day-to-day management of a social work team delivering services to children and families
* Ensure timely and appropriate interventions are in place to safeguard children and promote their wellbeing
* Oversee casework to ensure practice standards, statutory guidelines, and timescales are consistently met
* Monitor and manage performance, ensuring the team achieves agreed targets and outcomes in line with national and local performance indicators
* Supervise, support and develop team members through regular supervision, appraisal and training
* Contribute to service planning and policy development, ensuring alignment with the latest research, legislation and best practice.
Essential Experience Required
* Proven experience in children’s social work, with significant experience in a frontline safeguarding or statutory setting
* Experience of managing or supervising qualified social workers
* Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding legislation, and statutory frameworks
Essential Qualification Required
* Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW or equivalent)
* Registration with Social Work England
Additional Information
* Working hours: 37 hours per week
* Location: Civic Campus, Euclid Street, Swindon, SN1 2JG, United Kingdom
* Hybrid working: Must be able to attend office 3 days per week
* Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
