The Role
You will have overall responsibility for the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Science department, overseeing Biology, Chemistry, and Physics across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 provision where applicable. Alongside a reduced teaching timetable, you will lead curriculum development, raise standards, and ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and developing the Science curriculum across all key stages
* Driving progress, attainment, and outcomes through effective assessment and intervention
* Line-managing and supporting Science teaching staff and technicians
* Monitoring teaching quality and supporting professional development within the department
* Managing departmental resources, budgets, and health & safety compliance
* Contributing to whole-school improvement as part of the middle leadership team
* Promoting a positive, aspirational culture for Science across the school
