Why work for us?
Patients are at the centre of everything we do in our daily working lives at NHS Borders ensuring they are safe, cared for efficiently, effectively by suitably experienced and qualified staff driving quality at the heart of patient care. We are a dynamic and forward thinking team with a wealth of clinical and leadership experience. We aim for an open and honest culture and believe in nurturing future stars in NHS.
The Role
Obstetrics and Gynaecology services in NHS Borders includes a labour suite with 5 labour rooms and just under 1000 deliveries per year. Gynaecology patients are admitted to two wards shared with the surgical team. Outpatient clinics take place in the Borders General Hospital but also at peripheral sites within Scottish Borders. Facilities at the BGH provide a high standard of both diagnostic and interventional radiology support including easy access to Nuclear Medicine, Spiral CT and MRI scanning.
Your role would involve labour ward, gynaecological and antenatal outpatient and theatre sessions in addition to participation in the middle grade/trainee resident out of hours rota (1:6). The post would ideally suit doctors working in obstetrics & gynaecology at intermediate level (ST3/+) who would like to further develop their clinical skills or another speciality area of their interest within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Team.
You must be a fully registered medical practitioner with the GMC with a license to practice. MRCOG or equivalent is not essential but desirable.
