Are you a patient, dedicated individual with experience supporting children on the autistic spectrum?
GSL Education are currently recruiting a part-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) for a welcoming primary school in Bournemouth, starting this September. This rewarding role will involve providing personalised support to a child on the autistic spectrum, helping them access the curriculum and navigate the school day with confidence.
The school is seeking a candidate with prior experience working within a school setting, supporting children with Autism. Interviews are taking place as soon as possible to ensure a smooth start for the upcoming term.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will be:
Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with Autism, helping them engage with learning and classroom routines
Implement strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and social development
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver personalised learning plans
Foster a positive, structured, and supportive environment for the pupil
Monitor progress and share regular feedback with the wider school team
1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) Requirements:
Specific experience supporting children with Autism as a Teaching Assistant or similar in a school setting
CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare is desirable but not essential.
A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field is desirable but not essential.
A calm, consistent, and compassionate approach to individual needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive mindset and willingness to adapt
Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
