OMBS is a small independent business school offering a one year intensive Professional Business Diploma to students 18+. The course is job focused, teaching practical skills employers are looking for. The diploma is taught over three 12 week terms, starting in September and ending in July. We attract students looking for an alternative to university, or potentially those in their gap year, as well as postgraduates looking for an additional skillset. OMBS is located centrally in Oxford just a 20-minute walk from the train station.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated tutor of Advanced IT and Digital Literacy.
Essential Knowledge Criteria for All Candidates
- Confident and skilled Advanced Microsoft Office and Google user across all packages including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Google Docs
- Sheets and Slides
- Excellent command of the English Language
Desirable
- Experience of teaching IT/ICT - applicants that are not qualified teachers may be considered if they have relevant experience, as training will be given
- Industry experience in a specialist business area

Job Role and Responsibilities
To lead the IT Department, teaching Advanced IT skills to each class of 16 students, including having personal tutor responsibilities to one student group.
Duties
Liaise with the Principal with regarding to the timetable and availability of staff
Prepare Schemes of Work
Prepare folders for the term
Prepare termly grade sheets
Liaise with Network Manager regarding computers and peripherals
Prepare display material and update noticeboards
Update Office 365
Chair weekly IT meetings
Monitor Staff performance
Organise and participate in lesson observations
Monitor the use of IT in industry through industry relationships and our recruitment partners
Develop new material to reflect the changing use of IT in industry
Monitor the OMBS curriculum
Prepare Staff training programme
Teaching Responsibilities
Teach Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Database, Outlook to Advanced level
Be prepared for each lesson including, scheme of work, lesson plan, teaching notes, objectives, resources
Evaluate each lesson and feedback to the team
Maintain records with regard to behaviour, attendance, and student achievement
Bring any anomalies regarding behaviour, attendance, and student achievement to the attention of group tutors
Marking students work as and when required and entering on the database
Attend weekly staff meetings
Attend end of term full staff meetings
Be involved and willing to embrace OMBS – events, speakers, graduation
Group Tutor Responsibilities
Be responsible for the academic journey of each student in your tutor group as well as their pastoral care
Meet formally once a week with student group as per timetable
Be responsible for keeping the attendance record of each student up to date
Liaise with subject tutors when necessary
Input data for half term appraisals and end of term testimonials
Take responsibility for your tutor group at graduation
