Water Process Operative - Kenley
£29,000-£34,000 plus shift allowance and standby pay.
We are now seeking a Water Process Operative (previously called Plant Operators) to operate and monitor the treatment works, pumping stations, and service reservoirs at Kenley Treatment Works. You will work across a seven-day shift pattern, with standby, overtime, and occasional night work as part of a close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional in water process operations, working across a defined geographical area with a mix of indoor and outdoor work—no two days will be the same.
The Role
SES Water supplies 160 million litres of clean, safe water daily to over 735,000 customers across Kent, Surrey, and South London.
As a Water Process Operative, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business, communicating essential information both verbally and in writing. Building excellent relationships and working collaboratively across teams are vital. A service mindset is important both internally and externally.
Responsibilities include:
1. Routine and emergency operation of complex water treatment processes such as abstraction, filtration, and disinfection.
2. Monitoring automated process systems via SCADA to ensure proper operation.
3. Taking samples and conducting analyses to ensure compliance with standards.
4. Diagnosing basic faults in process plant and implementing remedial actions, reporting findings as necessary.
5. Ensuring compliance with internal procedures and completing all necessary documentation.
6. Liaising with colleagues and other departments, particularly Water Quality, to resolve issues and optimize results.
7. Maintaining required records to meet regulatory requirements.
8. Assisting colleagues within M&E and Systems teams with planned and reactive maintenance.
9. Performing cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain standards.
About You
* Experience in a process management environment, preferably in the water industry.
* Teamwork skills to achieve common goals.
* Full driving license.
* Minimum Grade C in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
* Basic IT skills.
