Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Capital Project Manager to lead complex construction projects. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact, contributing to the transformation and modernisation of our estate.
You'll be integral to managing and delivering multi-million-pound schemes through all RIBA stages, ensuring compliance with NHS guidance, HTM & HBN, CDM regulations 2015 and the Building Safety Act. You will oversee project planning, execution and delivery, ensuring timely, on-budget, and within-scope completion. You will have a comprehensive understanding of the financial aspects of capital projects, including forecasting and profiling spending across multiple projects, ensuring effective resource allocation and budget management.
You will excel in stakeholder management, collaborate effectively with contractors, clinicians, and key partners, and ensure accountability to drive high-quality project outcomes aligned with NCA's strategic goals. Your leadership and communication skills will help you navigate complex projects and foster strong working relationships across diverse teams.

Main duties
You'll be responsible for the successful completion of construction capital projects, ensuring that facilities are developed to high standards while adhering to financial constraints. All capital projects should be delivered on time, within budget, and meet the operational and strategic goals of the NCA.
You will develop and maintain detailed project plans and documentation across all RIBA stages, ensuring they are regularly updated and clearly communicated to project boards and stakeholders.
You will manage every RIBA stage from feasibility through to completion, coordinating activities with project teams, construction partners and design teams to ensure on-time, efficient delivery and high-quality, sustainable outcomes. You will apply best practices and innovative solutions to deliver value for money and sustainability.
Beyond project delivery, you will provide expert professional advice and strategic guidance for capital schemes and the built environment, influencing decision-making, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with operational and strategic objectives. You will ensure all projects are delivered in line with CDM regulations and the Building Safety Act.

Qualifications
* Essential: Degree-level qualification or equivalent in Capital Development; professional knowledge across construction, financial management, operational management, information systems, and staff management
* Essential: Experience with a project management methodology
* Desirable: Chartered or Incorporated status (RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, IHEEM, IET) or recognized construction project management qualification
Skills
* Extensive knowledge in architecture, construction, engineering, project management or building services/mechanical & electrical
* Understanding of commercial, governance, operational and legal structures; ability to write specifications and run tenders
* Budget management with forecasting across project lifetimes
* Strong communication, influencing, negotiation and conflict-management skills
* Ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team; drive continuous improvement
* Data analysis, pragmatic decision-making, and ability to challenge existing practice
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Proficient with standard office software and prioritization to achieve goals
Knowledge
* Essential: Sound knowledge of corporate governance and risk management
* Desirable: Knowledge of NHS strategy, planning/building control legislation, NHS estates guidance (HTMs, HBNs), and Net Zero Carbon in NHS capital schemes
Experience
* Essential: Proven experience managing construction-based NHS capital projects in acute hospital settings; experience with CDM regulations and Building Safety Act; managing large-scale projects in live environments; estates and capital management; formulating and implementing strategic and operational plans
* Desirable: Previous NHS capital development experience
