Overview
Please Note: This is a minimum hours post (7.5 hours). These are the hours per month. The candidate is expected to work weekends and throughout the week depending on business demands.
Experience of practical skills, a full UK Manual Driving Licence (Category D1 Minibus) is required. We cannot accept applicants who hold an automatic driving licence only.
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
* Conduct Pre-Placement Unpaid Work Induction sessions.
* Conduct a start of the day toolbox talk to ensure all service users understand the task and safe working practices, and motivate and support service users to complete their Order.
* Follow work directions within the project placement file.
* Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed; alert the relevant staff to any risk; complete and maintain associated paperwork, including contributing to the review of placement risk assessments.
* Ensure appropriate tools, equipment and supplies are available and that safe-use instructions are followed by service users.
* Conduct a dynamic risk assessment to note and manage hazards.
* Use pro-social and other motivational techniques to ensure service users complete the work in a disciplined and well-behaved manner.
* Monitor attendance of service users allocated to agency placements and promote successful completions.
* Maintain service users\' records in accordance with organisational requirements and ensure information is updated on the case management system timely and accurately.
* Work towards accreditation as a workplace assessor or deliver training assessments for service users within the supervised work group to provide enhanced learning opportunities.
* Contribute towards promoting Community Payback with colleagues, external agencies, Sentencers and the public.
Requirements & Qualifications
* UK Manual Driving Licence - Category D1 Minibus
* Experience of practical skills; evidence of commitment to teamwork
* Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise people constructively while maintaining authority
* Evidence of problem-solving within a workplace or similar environment
* Knowledge of safety at work, public protection and risk of harm in all aspects of work
* Basic knowledge of First Aid and willingness to undertake further training
* To attain IOSH L3 or equivalent and a willingness to attend further training
* Willing to achieve and maintain L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent
* Ability to model pro-social attitudes and behaviour to service users
* Good written communication skills, and ability to communicate and influence
Working Arrangements
The role may include driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment. Working patterns are designed for people on probation with caring responsibilities; Community Payback projects run 7 days a week. You will work frequent weekends and may be asked to cover some evenings. Higher rate applies for evenings and weekend days worked.
Salary & Benefits
Starting salary and pay progression: Competitive within Civil Service terms; annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework where eligible. New entrants join at the minimum of the pay band. Details will be provided on offer and reflected in the Civil Service pay guidance.
The MoJ offers hybrid working where suitable, and flexible patterns are considered in line with the role and business needs. Roles are appointed to a MoJ office location with potential base locations and a 60-minute commute from home where possible.
