The Glee Club Cardiff is located in Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay, with a 450-seat auditorium hosting comedy, music, drag, and spoken word events.
We seek an enthusiastic, experienced sound & lighting professional to join our tech team. The role involves operating and programming sound and lighting systems, including basic programming of lights, projectors, and screens, and liaising with our Production Co-ordinator.
Your responsibilities include overseeing sound, lighting, staging, and ensuring equipment maintenance. You should be confident, calm under pressure, and capable of troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Salary: £19,500 per year, paid monthly.
Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week (1300 hours/year).
Annual Leave: 28 days, increasing with service.
Job Responsibilities
* Operate and program sound & lighting desks.
* Use QLab to run cues if needed.
* Basic programming of lights, projectors, and screens.
* Coordinate with the Production Co-Ordinator for show tech specs.
* Store and maintain equipment.
* Assist with acts, artist hospitality, and show announcements.
* Set up stages as required.
Additional Information
* Shifts typically start between 5-6 pm, sometimes earlier for music shows, ending around 10-11:30 pm. Duration usually 4-6 hours.
* The Glee Club Cardiff is the only purpose-built comedy club in Wales, with a main room capacity of 450 seated / 600 standing, open Thursday to Saturday nights and available for hire.
