GSL Education are seeking a caring and motivated Academic Support Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth. This rewarding role focuses on helping students across the curriculum to achieve their potential, with particular emphasis on supporting learners with special educational needs (SEN).
As an Academic Support Assistant, you will:
* Provide academic and pastoral support to pupils, ensuring they are engaged and able to access learning in a positive and inclusive environment.
* Deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and study skills, tailored to both whole-class needs and individual SEN support plans.
* Collaborate with teaching staff, the SENCO, and parents to track progress and contribute to personalised learning plans.
As the successful Academic Support Assistant, you will have:
* A passion for supporting students of all abilities, particularly those with SEN.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
* Uni students are also encouraged to apply.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Experience working with children or young people is desirable, especially within SEN settings, but training will be provided.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
