Floating Support Worker - Young People
Location: Torfaen
Salary: £24,222 per year (£13.27 per hour)
Contract: Temporary, Month to Month - could go on for some time
Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week
Shifts: Days only - 9.30am to 5pm

You will be supporting young people who have experienced homelessness, care or complex life challenges. Some days will feel calm. Others will feel testing. You will never be doing it alone.
You will work as part of a supportive team. You will have clear plans, risk assessments and on call support. Your manager is there. Your colleagues are there. Safety always comes first.
About the service
This is supported housing for young people. The focus is on safety, stability and helping each person build confidence over time. Support is person centred, flexible and rooted in trust.
Good support here means young people feel safer, believe in themselves and begin to move forward at their own pace.
A day in the life
What will you do?
* You start your shift by checking in with the team and reading handover notes so you understand what young people might need today
* You build trust through everyday conversations, knowing when to listen and when to gently challenge
* You support young people to work towards their goals, encouraging independence rather than doing things for them
* You use your judgement to respond to conflict or safeguarding concerns, following clear procedures and getting support when needed
* You record what matters so the whole team stays connected and consistent
* You help keep the service safe, calm and welcoming for everyone
What you will need
* Experience supporting young people or adults with complex needs
* Confidence working as part of a team and sometimes lone working with support in place
* Ability to communicate clearly and record information accurately
* A calm, non judgemental approach
* Enhanced DBS, or willingness to complete one
