Prior's Court Foundation

Offer description

Catering and special diets

We offer meals at Prior’s Court that will provide a diet that is balanced and nutritious.

It is the philosophy of Prior’s Court to encourage a varied diet and to provide foods that are important to growth. Some diets may need to be discussed and medically agreed.

Any specialist diets will need to be discussed and agreed prior to admission and where relevant be subsidised by the Health Authority, Local Authority or parents as appropriate.

Clothing and Uniform

Clothing for all young people should either be provided by families or if appropriate the young person will be supported to go and choose and buy their own clothing. In these instances the cost of these clothes will be met via the young person’s own money (please see the pocket money and personal allowances section of the "Personal items and support" page of this handbook).
All clothing should be machine washable and able to be dried in a tumble dryer. The organisation cannot take responsibility for clothing that needs washing or drying by other means. Although laundry is done on a daily basis, it may take up to two days to have cleaned garments returned to a young person’s room. Keep this in mind when ordering quantities of clothing.

All young people who attend the school must wear appropriate uniform during the school day and we work with a company called to provide all uniform items. All orders are to be placed via Skoolkit's website, where you will also find a comprehensive size guide and FAQ page.

We are signed up with the two labelling companies, and

1. The unique school ID/ fundraising number for Stikins is 36418.
2. The unique school ID/ fundraising number for My Nametags is 11447.

Please use these IDs when ordering your labels. By including these numbers you are helping us fundraise to provide those little extras to enhance the experiences of all the young people.

Personal belongings including mobile devices

Young people are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms and are able to keep a range of personal belongings within their bedrooms. Any items of value should be identified to enable safe storage to be put in place.

Young people may bring other items such as bicycles, roller blades and trikes to use both at Prior’s Court and where appropriate offsite. This equipment should be maintained in good condition and a cycle helmet should be provided. All items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

It is recognised that some young people benefit from having access to their own mobile phone/ electronic device, but these must be handed in to staff for safe storage when not in use. All parents will be asked to sign a form indicating their agreement to and acceptance of the terms of the mobile phone policy.

Under no circumstances will young people be permitted to take, store or transmit photographs or videos of other young people or staff members with their mobile phone or electronic devices. Parents and pupils must ensure that files stored on the mobile phones or devices do not contain violent, degrading or pornographic images.

Information sharing within the family will need to be managed by the parents of the young people through an app such as ICloud. Young people’s mobile phones and devices must not be paired with other members of the family as this will increase the risk of inappropriate material being accessible on the phone or device.

Toiletries and Incontinence supplies

Toiletries need regular renewal and this is done through the young person’s pocket money or personal allowance.
Should your child require incontinence supplies the placing authority remains the provider of these items. We ask that sufficient quantities of these supplies are provided to Prior’s Court.

Pocket money and personal allowances

Each young person will require pocket money or a personal allowance to support them to purchase a range of items such as toiletries and individual items within the community.

All young people’s monies will be kept separately and a log including receipts kept of all purchases made. This will be monitored on a regular basis.

Charges for additional activities

Prior’s Court may make charges for some activities such as specialist hobbies and interests over and above standard leisure activities.
Parents who do not wish to contribute may ask for their child to be excluded from such activities.
Prior’s Court will decide if there are sufficient paying young people to make the activity viable.
