The Director, Medical Strategy plays a pivotal role in driving strategic medical direction within OPEN Health's Scientific Communications practice. This role involves spearheading the development of comprehensive Medical Affairs strategies and corresponding medical plans. Additionally, the Director fosters and cultivates robust client partnerships, ensuring alignment with and realization of strategic objectives.
The Director also actively partners on new business development efforts, identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to expand the company's portfolio and impact in the industry.
Responsibilities
* Leverage subject matter expertise to synthesize actionable insights from a situation analysis into tangible strategic drivers and corresponding solutions for Medical Affairs plan elements
* Oversee the formulation and execution of strategic medical content for communication planning initiatives, encompassing tailored analytics projects, scientific platform development, evidence gap assessments, and comprehensive tactical plans.
* Oversee the development of strategic medical content for new business opportunities / proposals; support orchestration and delivery of customized capabilities presentations for prospective clients
* Drive engagement and facilitate meaningful dialogue during scientific and strategic discussions with clients and external experts to achieve desired outcomes
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation in processes, methodologies, and deliverables to optimize efficiency and quality across all strategic Medical Affairs project deliverables
* Provide training and support to internal teams on medical strategy
* Elevate, expand and refine the strategic offerings of OPEN Health's Medical Strategy department
* Direct the development of comprehensive medical strategies tailored to each client's needs, fostering collaboration across teams to optimize the onboarding process and maximize client satisfaction
* Strategically monitor and stay abreast of the evolving Medical Affairs landscape, emerging industry trends, and evolving standards, with a keen focus on target therapeutic area dynamics and pharmaceutical / biotech company pipelines
Qualifications
* Advanced Life Sciences degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO) from an accredited university
* Solid experience working in a Medical Affairs consultancy or medical communications agency, or within the Medical Affairs division of a pharmaceutical company
* In-depth experience in leading the delivery of key offerings of Medical Affairs service providers, particularly medical plans, evidence generation plans, stakeholder engagement plans, and medical and / or value communications
* Ability to lead discussions around science and strategy with external stakeholders at all levels
* Proficient in synthesizing complex market and / or product information and distilling key learnings and insights into meaningful, actionable strategic recommendations
* Ability to apply subject matter expertise across multiple therapeutic categories and disease states as well as project types
* Direct the work of junior team members and help lead them to achieve best performance by instilling confidence and building morale
* Advanced project management, time management, organization, and prioritization skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including outstanding presentation development and delivery skills
