Role Overview
Veranova has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Scientist to join the Pharmorphix® Solid Form Group. Operating from a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Cambridge, UK, we are world leaders in Solid State Science and Particle Engineering. Our services cover a broad range of enabling formulation services, including solid‑form and physicochemical profiling, salt/polymorph and cocrystal screening and selection, process research and development, crystallization development and scale‑up of forms.
As an Analytical Scientist working in the Solid Form team, you will support a broad range of services for both external customer projects and internal research projects. You will act as a subject matter expert in liquid chromatography, including LC‑DAD, MS and CAD. In addition to HPLC, techniques such as ion chromatography, Karl Fischer, gas chromatography, automated pKa/logP, solubility and online/offline dissolution are also utilised with full training provided. The role requires multiple analytical services and physicochemical analysis in support of screening and development work and pre‑clinical proof‑of‑concept formulation development.
This is a full‑time, lab‑based role based at our Cambridge facility in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate commitment to EHS by actively participating in Veranova’s safety culture
* Perform a range of assigned research experiments as directed by project or team leaders
* Be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining analytical equipment
* Interpret experimental data and highlight any unexpected results
* Contribute to the design of experimental procedures and apply technical judgement
* Report experiments accurately and promptly, keep laboratory notebooks up to date in accordance with company quality procedures, and write high‑quality reports for customers
* Communicate results at internal project meetings and to customers
* Consistently monitor analytical techniques for process‑improvement ideas and implement actions
Ideal Candidate
You will have:
* A degree (or equivalent experience) in a chemistry‑related discipline or pharmaceutical sciences and experience in an analytical services laboratory
* Experience in chromatographic techniques is essential:
o Previous experience in LC‑MS method development
o Experience with LC‑MS structure elucidation and stability studies
o Familiarity with HPLC method transfer and troubleshooting
* A good theoretical understanding of physicochemical techniques such as pKa, LogP, dissolution and solubility, with experience in related disciplines desirable
* The ability to work on multiple projects and techniques simultaneously, and adapt generic methods to suit individual project requirements in a busy high‑throughput lab
* Knowledge of GMP, GLP, and ISO 9001 is desirable
