Overview
We’re recruiting for Head of Business Banking who will bring to life the value stream for the Group’s Business Banking business with full accountability for the product range for our Business customers. The role will be responsible for the P&L, Balance sheet, propositions, journeys and strategy. It will put our members and customers first, bringing significant experience in Business Banking and understanding the regulatory and commercial context to achieve growth and success.
Responsibilities
* Propositions: Design a proposition and transition states to ensure an offering balancing growth, product economics, risk and regulatory requirements, and the group brand/positioning. Understand target segments, jobs to be done, and the economic impact of decisions using internal and external data (customer, market, journey) to understand customer needs, regulation and market trends.
* Commercial Management: Create and run a commercial plan with targets across all Business Banking product lines, deliver key financial metrics (market share, asset and liability balances, etc.), report on performance and levers, produce pricing and trading papers, and develop product economics (unit economics, cost models, income, cross-product holding, channel economics, capital usage).
* Risk: Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and changes; manage and mitigate changes as part of the broader plan. Ensure the book focuses on financial and non-financial risks and embed risk ownership with the team, working with credit risk on lending models (overdrafts), capital usage and pricing models.
* Transformation: Work with horizontal origination and servicing teams to prioritise journey development and improvement, coordinate migration and integration, and collaborate with Core Banking platform development to align with product requirements, commercial plans and the Business Banking change roadmap.

Location and working arrangement
This role can operate from either our Head Office campus in Binley, Coventry or our Manchester office; as a Group role, travel to both locations is expected. A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.

To be successful in this role it’s essential you have
* Proven financial services leadership experience in a senior-level Business Banking role
* Experience of commercial bank lending including loans, current accounts and credit cards
* Demonstrable expertise in commercial management – working with journey leads, finance and marketing to create growth plans
* Experience of developing and delivering strategy and associated business plans
* Expert knowledge of the regulatory requirements and rules that govern business activities
* Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, capable of translating complex challenges into actionable insights
* Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities, with a track record of fostering cross-functional collaboration and influencing
* Experience of operating in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with multiple high-priority demands
* Adept at managing relationships, securing stakeholder buy-in, and driving alignment across diverse teams

* Leadership experience in a product, finance or strategy role
* Evidence of leading through an integration
